SensorMicro today announced that it launches the new iTL1208, an ultra-compact 1280×1024 thermal core featuring an advanced 8μm infrared detector. Designed for SWaP-constrained platforms, the iTL1208 combines megapixel thermal imaging performance with an industry-leading miniature form factor.
As thermal imaging systems continue to evolve toward higher resolution and lighter payloads, system integrators have often been forced to compromise between image quality and compactness. The iTL1208 addresses this challenge by delivering both.
Measuring only 22.6 × 22.6 mm and weighing just 34.5 g including a 12 mm lens, the iTL1208 establishes a new benchmark for lightweight megapixel thermal cores. Its compact footprint enables easier integration into space-constrained platforms while helping reduce overall payload weight for improved mobility and endurance.
Built around a 1280 × 1024 infrared detector, the iTL1208 provides four times the pixel count of conventional 640 × 512 solutions, allowing users to capture more thermal information across the scene. The higher resolution supports both detailed short-range inspection and enhanced long-range observation, enabling operators to identify targets with greater confidence.
The core's breakthrough compactness is made possible by SensorMicro's advanced 8μm pixel size technology. By reducing detector pixel size, optical components can be significantly smaller while maintaining high-resolution performance, resulting in lighter and more compact thermal imaging systems.
